WHO are The Scraptoft Day Nursery?

The Scraptoft Day Nursery offers a homely, calm and stimulating environment for children to learn and develop. The classrooms are bright, spacious and include a wide variety of resources and equipment, offering the opportunity for play and exploration.

Their professional staff are experienced, fully trained and qualified to look after children from 6 weeks up to 5 years in a nurturing, happy and fun environment. They establish excellent relationships with parents/carers and work in partnership to support the children to reach their full potential.

WHAT will I get from working with The Scraptoft Day Nursery?

  • EARN: £6.40 per hour, 39 hours per week
  • EXPERIENCE- your hours: Monday to Friday shifts between 8am and 6pm.
  • QUALIFICATION: Early Years Educator Level 3 takes approximately 18 months.

WHAT will my DAY look like?

As a Nursery Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing the highest level of care and education for all children and ensuring the individual needs of the children are identified and met. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Helping to set up activities for the children.
  • Supporting children to engage in activities and participate with others.
  • Supporting children at mealtimes and assisting with eating and drinking.
  • Getting involved in creative and messy play with the children.
  • Helping children to sing, read, count and join in with imaginative play.
  • Ensuring the children are safe and supervised at all times.
  • Helping to plan activities and games.
  • Tidying away after an activity is finished.
  • Any other duties requested by the manager.
  • Minimum of 6 hours per week spent on apprenticeship work and training.

HOW does the Apprenticeship work?

Working towards your Early Years Educator Level 3 Qualification, you’ll attend monthly 1-2-1 meetings (online via teams every month – NO classroom OR college!) with your tutor and learn about modules including risk management, key person & attachment, learning & development, and more!  You will be given a minimum of 3 hours per week to complete any apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and projects) and will receive at least another 3 hours of training from your employer. All apprenticeship work and training is completed in the workplace, during working hours.

WHAT skills/qualifications do I NEED?

  • Minimum GRADE 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths & English
  • UK Residency – must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years
  • Early Years Practitioner Level 2 (or equivalent)
  • Be an inspiring practitioner with a sound knowledge of child development.
  • Be proficient in leading the delivery of all aspects of teaching and learning.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Act as designated key person for an allocated number of children.
  • Ensure you observe, plan and assess children’s learning and development within the EYFS framework.
  • Develop positive partnership with parents.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom practices.
  • Work as part of a team providing consistently high standards of care and education.
