WHAT will I get from working with Drax?

  • EARN: £20,000-£22,000 per year
  • EXPERIENCE- your hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
  • QUALIFICATION: Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3 (approximately 17 months).

WHAT will my DAY look like?

You will be part of the finance team and play an integral part in the fast-moving and dynamic finance function. Your will be supporting the accounts assistant with day-to-day finance tasks such as:

  • Bank & credit card reconciliation
  • Supplier statement reconciliation
  • Management of finance inbox and associated tasks
  • Supporting receipt of purchase invoices via Simpro
  • Posting supplier invoices
  • Importing and posting of sales invoices onto Xero
  • Supporting with answering the phone as and when needed
  • Assisting with preparation and posting of month end journals (accruals, prepayments, salary/PAYE etc)
  • Liaising with HMRC as and when is required
  • Supporting with stock control management
  • Responsible for receipt of purchase orders and associated invoicing for Technology division
  • Supporting financial controller with ad-hoc tasks and projects
  • Supporting financial controller with weekly and monthly reporting Minimum of 6 hours per week spent on apprenticeship work and training.

HOW does the Apprenticeship work?

Working towards your Level 3 AAT Qualification you’ll attend monthly online 1-2-1 meetings (online via teams every month – NO classroom OR college!) with your Tutor to learn Modules including data & cyber security, financial accounting & reporting, indirect tax & reconciliatons, fraud & internal controls, and more! You will be given a minimum of 3 hours per week to complete any apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and projects) and will receive at least another 3 hours of training from your employer. All apprenticeship work and training is completed in the workplace, during working hours.

The Level 3 AAT includes a Mandatory Qualification ‘Diploma in Accounting’ made up of 4 modules/exams including Business Awareness, Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements, Management Accounting Techniques, Tax Processes for Businesses.

WHAT skills/qualifications do I NEED?

  • Minimum GRADE 4/C in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths & English
  • UK Residency – must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years
  • AAT Level 2 Qualification
  • Office/admin experience
  • Communication, customer care & team working.
  • Analytical, logical, problem solving & attention to detail.
  • IT, organisation, presentation, admin & number skills.
  • Initiative, non-judgemental & patient.
